The Story Behind Manchester Marans At Manchester Marans hatchery, we have enjoyed getting back to some aspects of homesteading. Our chickens have been a great source of helping us to eat healthy and have given us countless amounts of humor watching chickens do their thing! We have grown our flock and wanted to share the same experiences with others. We hope our chicks can bring you as much pleasure as ours have to us!
PRICE: $15 per chick, straight run
Since Black Copper Marans cannot be sexed until 4 weeks or later, we sell a straight run for $15 per chick. We accept CASH or VENMO. Shipping fees are calculated based on weight of chicks and shipping location.
BUYING OPTIONS:
- Local Pickup – Our local pickup service is in Manchester, TN and is tailored to accommodate your schedule, making it easy for you to bring home your new chicks. We notify you several days in advance of their availability, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience.
- Shipping Options – We are committed to safe and reliable shipping of our chicks to your doorstep, weather permitting. A minimum order of seven chicks is required for shipping, and we ask for a $25 non-refundable deposit to hold your place in line when supplies are low. Otherwise, we ship when ordered.

Heritage Breed for Longevity
Our Black Copper Marans are a heritage breed, known for their adaptability and longevity in producing both meat and eggs for years to come. As a heritage breed, Black Copper Marans were bred and raised 100 to 200 years ago by our colonial ancestors. They are well-adapted to native climates of hot and cold. The hens should lay for 5 to 7 years with 3-4 eggs each week, totaling 150-200 eggs per year. A typical hen will lay eggs for only 2-3 years. Black Copper Marans have a life expectancy of about 7-8 years.
